Giovanni D'Oro - B'day Gifts Available for 2008 Season
Giovanni D'Oro (born in February 2004) is sired by the unbeaten two year old champion Johannesburg, who has also sired top class horses such as Scat Daddy and Diamand Tycoon, and is out of the very well bred dam Maddie G.
Gio, as he is known in the yard, is the fourth most expensive offspring of Johannesburg sold at public auction, making 270,000gns in 2005. Before joing the Racing Owners stable Gio was previously owned by breeding giants Coolmore.
Gio has had six runs in his racing career to date, shaping with enormous promise in his last 2 runs - incluiding a run with the former champion jockey Jamie Spencer on board.
Gio will be running on the flat at racecourses across the UK at distances between 7 furlongs and 1 mile and 2 furlongs, depending on what he shows us on the gallops at home. We expect Gio to make his first start for us at the beginning of June and then we will campaign him throughout the year.
Gio is in training with Mandy Rowland in her Sherwood Forest stables in Nottinghamshire. Mandy has had great success with her flat horses over the past 12 months and she is ideally located to reach all of the UK's racecourses.
We feel Gio has been lightly raced and is still relatively unexposed. Having raced mainly at 6 or 7 furlongs on his previous starts, we see him suited to distances around a mile and we are confident Mandy can bring out the best of a horse that is full of potetential.
